8/1/04: National Night Out Against Crime
On August 1st,2004 at 3pm police and fire agencies from all over the metro area celebrated the kickoff of the national Night Out Against Crime party at the Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner.  Many police and fire departments including the New Orleans Police Department, Kenner Police, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Officer, Louisiana State Police, Harahan Police, Kenner Fire Department, Port of New Orleans Harbor Police, Union Pacific Police, Naval Police, Coast Guard, FBI,and the Jefferson Parish Fire Department (just to name a few) participated in the event by handing out literature regarding each department and putting on demonstrations for the general public.  Food and music complimented the good weather and even better public turnout to make the event a big success.
As well as fly-by's, the United States Coast Guard performed a rescue demonstration in which a "victim" was lifted from a vessel into the helicopter.
Several helicopters were also on display as well. They included (in order from left to right) the U.S. Coast Guard , The Louisiana State Police, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Officer copters.
The next series of pictures show the JPFD's demonstrations to the public. Lt. Finley helped orchestrate the event which included rappelling down a 100 ft ladder.
This picture shows the New Orleans Harbor Police in the foreground, the Harahan Police SUV in to the right, middle of the picture, and the tail end of the New Orleans Police mobile command unit to the right, background of the picture.
Members of Station 18 (C) represented the department very well.
