The East End Volunteer Fire Department refused to disband unless the newly formed Jefferson Parish Fire Division built a station to cover the area. In 1968 their wishes were granted when Station 18 was built. Today the house runs an engine and a ladder out of its doors The station's first due area includes many commercial properties, including high rise buildings, interspersed with small pockets of residential neighborhoods. B Platoon's mascot is the Flying Tiger.
